dc.description.abstract Jim Morrison, chair of the Academic Senate, presided. The Senate Executive Committee reported on appointments for replacements and on the re-creation of the Global Awareness Committee. Academic Standards Committee discussed students registering without appropriate placement testing, automatic suspension of students on warning for more than two terms, and general education requirements. University Curriculum Committee reported on course proposals which were approved. The General Education Committee reported asking for syllabi for general education courses being taught this semester, motioning to approve the choosing of old or new general education requirements, and reducing the oral communication requirements to one course instead of two. YSU President David Sweet addressed the Senate on university planning, building the administrative team and labor-management relations.
