dc.description.abstract | Jim Morrison, chair of the Academic Senate presided. The Senate Executive Committee appointed faculty representatives to administrative boards/committees. The Committee is also asking the Charter and Bylaws Committee to consider language to allow students and faculty to serve on more than one standing Senate committee and to clarify which Senate committee (ASC or GEC)is responsible for reviewing and recommending policy regarding the general education requirements. The Elections and Balloting Committee reported on elections for the Chair of the Senate, vice-chair of the Senate and members of the Charter and Bylaws Committee. The Academic Standards Committee discussed proposed changes to GER goals 4 and 11 that were referred to it at the last meeting and it will also continue its discussion on semester minors. Academic Programs Committee reported that 21 programs are not yet approved for semesters and that 19 of them have been returned to the departments for revision. The Curriculum Committee announced that a packet of proposed courses had been sent to departments and deans' offices. The Academic Planning Committee prepared scheduling guidelines and a scheduling grid for Summer 2000. The General Education Committee reported it considered and rejected the proposed amendments (to goals 4 and 11) that were referred to it as the last Senate meeting. November 1 was the deadline for submitting regular GER courses. | |
