Abstract:
Presented is the agenda of the meeting of the Board of Governors of Youngstown College on March 28, 1940. The enrollment report was presented. The financial report was attached. Disciplinary action was taken with regard to the “Westminster Incident” and a party where student misconduct occurred. Students who stood in the lowest ten percent on the English Test had to take “English X,” a remedial course. Further remedial work in English would be patterned after the Rollins Plan. Two students were placed into local industries under the cooperative plan. The football schedule for 1940 was announced. Dr. J.E. Smith went on leave of absence. Board members were invited to attend the Gilbert & Sullivan opera “Patience”. The Summer Term was discussed. The library committee reported on its fundraising efforts. A senior was granted a two-year fellowship in Chemistry at Williams College. A select group of faculty was chosen to advise freshmen. A resolution from the Mahoning Valley Industrial Council was read.
